You said to fix old problems first. I pointed out they have been working on the schools since the early 90s and you said that wasn't old enough. The big "NO" in your quote. That would imply you would think the county had older, more pressing issues, than the schools. Got it now?

Wasn't all/most of the money used for the stadium raised by donations and private funding for that purpose. So it wasn't Norton spending anything.

As far as the elementary school goes it will be the same and would need to be done anyway. Why is it noone realizes that the elementary/middle schools will stay just as they are and the only thing affected by consolidation are the high schools.

It would help the "city" of Norton tremendously to drop the city garbage and join back with the county. The schools are an absolute drain on the economy of the town and all the money spent on them now could be used for other things in town.

Just don't see them spending all that money on a new stadium, athletic complex, new floors in the gym the year before last and also the adding on to the elementary school...then consolidate. Doesn't make sense at all.

Do you just intentionally not read or are you just that dumb? Was most of the money used for the football field and such not raised by donation and private funding for that specific purpose and hence wasn't spent by the town out of the tax base.

And again I guess you are just that dumb, THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WOULD NOT BE AFFECTED BY JOINING WITH THE COUNTY AND THE CONSOLIDATION AND THAT WORK WOULD NEED TO BE DONE ANYWAY!!!!!!!

Besides they need something to use for the next 10 years or so till the new schools are built.

I just pretty much ignore what you say most of the time.

Yes, I know it was private donation....but what difference does it make? It was still spent, makes absolutely no sense to just have wasted all of it (whether it was donation or not) Btw I am not sure all of it was from donation, the donations were raised for the locker rooms and new weight rooms.

I would guess they would just pull a coeburn and join the cumberland and play schools their own size.

Still won't pay the bills, face it they aren't any better off than the rest of the county. How old is JIB? Wait till the lay-offs and spending cut-backs get in full swing. No money to run the schools. Scott Co had to get a loan to make payroll, the state is late with the funding. Go George and NCLB.

You guys who think Norton's tax base relies on Walmart are funny, like everyone else you drive by the places that produce the most tax revenue for the city and probably never thought about it. I was enlightened by this by E.W. Ward a few years back when talk of Walmart going to the county. The order may have changed a little, but it was then Humphries coal, Carter Machinery, Joy MFG, then either AT&T relay or Verizon then Walmart. The phone places because there was some tax for each call to go thru there.
